| Topshur — plucked two-stringed instrument with an oval body hollowed out of a piece of wood, a leathern or wooden sound-board and a long fretless neck. The most popular of Altai instruments, the topshur is used to play songs, instrumental tunes and to accompany the recitation of epic legends and fairy tales.
The Topshur has different names in other regions:
the Khakass khomys, the Shor komus, the Tuva toshpulur.
